For instance, there have been several pollution reports in areas around Lake Okeechobee. The pollution which has been majorly concentrated because of agricultural activities has also affected the Everglades. In terms of topography, Florida State has a high potential of good crops. The climate is warm, and agriculture has been termed as being intense and varied in the same manner. The freshwater lakes in Florida have sadly been affected by the nutrients that cause this type of pollution. This has been the reason why flora and fauna have gone out of balance. There is also the need to look at ways in which the situation can be combated. According to the required standards set down by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the restoration of the conditions of the environment is necessary. The National Research Council (12) reviewed the effects of pollution in the Florida area and it was found that water resources suffered the most in the United States.The EPAs review also indicated that there should be a criterion which will help reduce the effects of pollution in Florida. There are many lakes which have been put at risk of pollution. The number of streams and rivers combined number a whopping 7,700 with an additional 27 springs which are the first magnitude. A big number of the water bodies in Florida have been suffering because of effects that have been created by nutrients. The environmental and human conditions have played a significant role in the said development. For instance, human population has been rampantly growing. This will obviously be the reason there is increased pressure on amenities such as water. With time, the areas that had been covered by water bodies undergo different changes with the reduction of wat er or drying up of the same being one of the occurrences.Land cover is also affected in a major way. The Florida surface and the beaches have been adversely affected. Today, there is a presence of algae in most of the rivers. Cattle ranches which are areas of where there has been a flow of chemicals have been blamed for the presence of algae. The neighborhoods which roll up far into areas such as Orlando have a presence of different elements that include phosphorous.
